James P. Trainor

James P. Trainor received his J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1990, his M.S. in Business Administration from Boston University in 1985, and his B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1981. Mr. Trainor serves as general counsel for the Town of Stillwater and the Clifton Park Water Authority, and special counsel to the Towns of Ballston and Galway. His private practice concentrates in the areas of business law, town law, land use, real estate and litigation. He also has extensive experience in wills, bankruptcy, eminent domain, military law, criminal defense and personal injury litigation. 

Mr. Trainor holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves Judge Advocate General’s Corps and currently assists young men and women gain admission to West Point as a Liaison Officer for the USMA Admissions Office and three area Congressional Districts. He is active in veterans legal counseling and as a religious liberty advocate for the Alliance Defending Freedom.
